Esperides Rose Dello Jato 2018 (Rosè of Nero D’Avola)

rock paper scissors wine imports is honored to be partnering with Goatlandia Farm Animal Sanctuary, an amazing non-profit in Sonoma dedicated to rescuing animals and promoting compassionate living.  During the month of August we will be donating 50% of sales from our Di Bella Vini Rosé of Nero d’Avola to Goatlandia in hopes of assisting them to meet their goal of building a new pen for the goats. All of our wines, including this one, are made from organically grown grapes and are vegan! Natural wine = nothing added, nothing removed!

Appellation: Terre Siciliane IGT 

Tasting Notes: The color of this wine is soft and ephemeral pink. The nose is elegant and surprisingly complex with floral notes of roses followed by red fruit hints of under ripe cherry and pomegranate. The palate is harmonious and dry, with amazing acidity and savory elements that are atypical of light rosès such as this one.

Food Pairings: Grilled shishito peppers, wood fired eggplant or a chilled couscous salad.  Super crushable! Great on its own!

Vineyard: This Nero D’Avola rosé  is organically sourced from Jato River Valley at an altitude of 1300-1640 ft. above sea level. The yields are about 700 gal. per acre. These vines are about 16 years old and rest on clay soils facing South/South-west.

Harvest: Exclusively by hand the first days of September.

Vinification: The grapes are gently pressed and the juice is macerated on the skins for a very short time (2 hours). Fermentation happens in stainless steel for 2-3 weeks. The wine is matured for 5-6 months and then 2 months in bottle.
